چکیده
This paper proposes new nonparametric hybrid exponentially weighted moving average (HEWMA) control charts based on simple random sampling (SRS) and ranked set (RSS) techniques using the Wilcoxon rank-sum W statistic. The in-control robustness out-of-control (OOC) performances are thoroughly investigated extensive simulations. HEWMA id="M2"> chart is shown to be superior basic (EWMA) double EWMA id="M3"> in many cases under normal nonnormal distributions. Moreover, OOC sensitivities of id="M4"> -type further improved by supplementary 2-of-2 2-of-3 standard runs-rules approaches. Estimation of Variance of Normal Distribution using Ranked Set Sampling
Introduction In some biological, environmental or ecological studies, there are situations in which obtaining exact measurements of sample units are much harder than ranking them in a set of small size without referring to their precise values. In these situations, ranked set sampling (RSS), proposed by McIntyre (1952), can be regarded as an alternative to the usual simple random sampling ...
متن کاملStratified Median Ranked Set Sampling: Optimum and Proportional Allocations
In this paper, for the Stratified Median Ranked Set Sampling (SMRSS), proposed by Ibrahim et al. (2010), we examine the proportional and optimum sample allocations that are two well-known methods for sample allocation in stratified sampling. We show that the variances of the mean estimators of a symmetric population in SMRSS using optimum and proportional allocations to strata are smaller than ...

متن کاملMissing Observation for Estimating the Difference: Ranked Set Sampling versus Simple Random Sampling
The estimation of the difference of means of two variables is studied when missing observations are present. The model follows the approach proposed in the paper of Bouza and Prabhu-Ajgaonkar [1993, Biometrical J., v.35, p.245-252] when simple random sampling is the design used for selecting samples and sub-samples. In this paper, a ranked set-sampling counterpart is developed. Their sample err...
متن کاملParametric Ranked Set Sampling*
Ranked set sampling was introduced by McIntyre (1952, Australian Journal of Agricultural Research, 3, 385-390) as a cost-effective method of selecting data if observations are much more cheaply ranked than measured. He proposed its use for estimating the population mean when the distribution of the data was unknown. In this paper, we examine the advantage, if any, that this method of sampling h...
